Ikaarvik is an Indigenous-led, youth-empowering organization based in Mittimatalik, Nunavut that builds bridges between local Indigenous communities and southern-based researchers. Ikaarvik’s mission is to enable Northern Indigenous youth to take the lead in identifying and addressing their communities’ research priorities, combining Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit and Western science.  

 

For over a decade, through Ikaarvik, youth and community members have worked collaboratively with researchers to co-design research, ensuring that projects align with local priorities, values, and knowledge systems, enabling research that truly benefits northern communities while advancing scientific rigour.
